I've seen Shelly 6 times and I am so thrilled with her skills!! Not a spa rub at all, her massage is a great blend of deep tissue, cupping, stretching that leaves me feeling a tiny bit sore in a good way. I describe her work as bodywork, healing and restoration vs a traditional Swedish massage.
I have been a client of Shellys on and off for 3 years. Her technique is unique and therapeutic, not the typical relaxation message. I am an older weekend warrior who refuses to act my age. You know the type, anyway repetitive motion injuries, overuse injuries, and inflammation are all part of her specialty.
This last year I’ve seen Shelly twice a month for therapeutic massage. She keeps my arm and shoulder functioning, improving range-of-motion, and has helped with other challenges, such as lymphatic drainage, when needed. For those of us over 60, it’s a good idea to schedule some regular “bodywork” as maintenance.
I started going to Shelly after I had injured my back around 2 years ago. I attribute the amazing progress I made due to her technique! She asks you about YOUR pain & she hears YOU! Her ability & skill to hone in on the area & create relief is out of this world! You feel good all over when she’s finished with you !
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
