From the reviews

I’m so grateful for Dr Sara, I got a frozen shoulder from a shoulder injury that occurred in June, I was told it could take from 6 to 2 yrs plus to heal, I was recommended surgery, I was told 7 sessions with a chiropractor would heal it, I was told many things and ways to heal my frozen shoulder.

I went to South Austin Community Acupuncture for six years and had I not moved out of state, I would still be going. Wally and Erica have seen me through the ups and downs of life. The reception area is clean, organized, and quiet.

I had never done any sort of acupuncture before, and I was pretty nervous about it..but i just had to try it! I showed up and told them that I had not yet eaten that day (FYI: it's important to eat before you go!

This is such a wonderful south Austin gem that few cities are lucky to have. I’m so grateful I found this truly lovely, tranquil healing space with an equally lovely staff all around.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
