I have had such a pleasant experience at Merriam Park Acupuncture! Kim is so kind and really took the time to go through my history to figure out a treatment plan that would work best for me. I’ve never had acupuncture or cupping done before, and Kim makes sure to talk me through everything!

I have seen both Kristianne for my daughter with anxiety, my husband has seen Ingrid for sciatica pain he'd been dealing with for three weeks, and now myself for gallbladder/kidney health. All of them have been really professional, knowledgable, resourceful, and we have seen improvements with all the issues.

★★★★★ — Leah, Nov 2025

I recommend Kristianne and Merriam Park for accupucture! I am not good with needles and they have made it easy and comfortable for me to do in every session. There are many benefits to my health and body after going weekly or bi-weekly. I could not be happier!

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
