From the reviews

These guys are easily the best acupuncturists in the city. Justin and Ann have been treating me for chronic back pain for a while now. They are incredibly knowledgable in the space and constantly thrive to keep up to date on the newest academic research out there.

★★★★★ — Dan, Nov 2020

I went to Justin as a referral from a friend for neck and upper back pain. He treated me with acupuncture, electric stim, and cupping over the course of multiple months. Gradually but surely, I was able to gain a wider range of motion and feel relieved tension in my back.

★★★★★ — James, Dec 2018

I’ll admit i never really took to “eastern” medicine practices. I’ve had a lot of pain in my neck and shoulders from general stress and anxiety as well as some labor over the years, and despite getting massages and going to chiropractors over the past 10+ years, the knots always stayed there or came back.

★★★★★ — Alice, Dec 2018

For my vacation this year I decided to visit my friend in San Francisco. During my trip I started having pretty bad lower back pain. I thought it was from all the sightseeing and walking around we were doing and thought that the pain would eventually go away.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
