Why Acupuncture & Apothecary is listed — cupping is a treatment, not a Google category, so we only list a provider when there's real proof they offer it. Here's what we found: “ver an acupoint or wider area of the body. It can be a little smokey, and therefore, some patients are not able to tolerate this modality. However, most people find it to be a pleasant, soothing, and warming experience. Cupping Cupping…” source →

From the reviews

I'm not sure what Abby is more passionate about: the art and practice of Chinese Medicine, or helping people feel better with a whole-person approach! She is so knowledgeable as a practitioner of Chinese Medicine - whether it's acupuncture, herbs, moxa, she knows each application and how to find a solution to whatever…

My experience with Lindsay Buffkin went beyond my expectations. It was the first time that I had received acupuncture or cupping and didn't know what to expect. I have had back, shoulder and knee problems for quite some time and pain relievers were not aiding. She was a great listener and receptive to my troubles.

★★★★★ — Nathan, Oct 2018

I've been going to Abby when needed for more than a year. She and Sherry are so friendly and welcoming. Going in for treatment is like getting a big hug. She's treated me with acupuncture, cupping, Gua Sha, infrared light, and customized herbal remedies.

★★★★★ — Rachel, Jun 2019

Abby takes patient comfort and care very seriously. She takes the time to listen to you and determine your best course of treatment. She has helped me with a wide range of issues using acupuncture, herbs, massage, cupping, and more - I love all the tools in her toolbox.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
