I have being seeing Colleen for several months now for various health issues/conditions. She was very thorough in getting the initial health history and at each treatment session, she follows up on what we discussed at the previous treatment session.

I've seen many different acupuncturists over the course of the past 5 years and Colleen is my favorite! I appreciate Colleen's focused yet relaxed atmosphere and her attention to detail. She spent extra time talking about a few of my concerns that most doctors just smile and nod and ignore when I talk to them about!

★★★★★ — Cate, Nov 2024

Colleen is absolutely fantastic! She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about acupuncture and natural healing practices. That, combined with her calm and inviting personality, makes for a wonderful experience every visit.

★★★★★ — Courtney, Jan 2018

I was an acupuncture skeptic, but Colleen saved my life! Years ago, I was suffering from a migraine that would not abate for WEEKS. After several ER visits, a neurologist at Duke asked me to try acupuncture before engaging in a very aggressive drug regimen, so I made an appointment just to check it off the list.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
