For many years I have gotten a massage at least twice a month, since the pandemic it has been difficult to find a therapist that works for me. ATMW has been fantastic and my new home for therapeutic massage!
I had a therapeutic massage from Kiersten, yesterday. This was my first visit to Active Therapeutic Massage and Wellness and my first therapeutic massage. I cannot say enough good things about Kiersten or the massage she gave me.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about my experience with Amy. I went to her for lymphatic massage and completed a total of 15 sessions. From the very beginning, she was incredibly supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping me feel better.
This was my first experience with chakra balancing so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Maggie was very thoughtful. She called me prior to appointment to go over some details prior to our session so I could receive a better experience. It was honestly the most relaxing experience I have had.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
