From the reviews

Kate is an absolute treasure. I’ve been working with Kate on and off for the better part of a decade and words don’t do justice to the impact she’s had on my life. It’s not just her knowledge of TCM, Ayurveda and yoga, but her lived wisdom in how to skillfully apply it and her kindness in giving it.

★★★★★ — Kate, Dec 2024

My favorite person to see for acupuncture, yoga, and ayurveda practices. Kate Lumsden, L.Ac. Is such a warm and calm person walking into her office i could immediately exhale and let go of everything I’d been carrying. She listens and adjusts your treatment to what is specifically ailing you each visit.

We are so grateful for the care provided by Kate! Her compassionate and intuitive approach to pediatric acupuncture is truly remarkable. My son not only feels at ease but actually looks forward to each session, thanks to Kate's playful and patient demeanor.

★★★★★ — Nimisha, Feb 2024

I've seen Kate over the years for a number of reasons ranging from back problems to pregnancy support and postpartum care and I recommend her unreservedly. She is a thoughtful, intuitive, experienced, and really, REALLY kind practitioner.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
