From the reviews
I came to Umi Acupuncture Center with years of digestive issues and insomnia. Western medicine gave me diagnoses but not much relief. Working with Dr. Wang has been life-changing.
Dr. Wang provided a thorough explanation of her approach and its relevance to my health. I received an accupuncture treatment and also requested cupping. She applied the needles with ease and dexterity, always checking that I was in no pain. The cupping was purifying and intense. I never felt anything like it before.
I initially came to Umi Acupuncture for some lingering neck and shoulder pain, but I quickly realized the benefits went way beyond that. Dr. Wang takes such a thoughtful approach — she listens carefully and really connects the dots between your symptoms, stress, and lifestyle.
Umi Acupuncture has quickly become one of my favorite places to go. It’s hard to explain, but something about the environment instantly calms you down — everything from the scent to the lighting is just right. Dr. Wang is so compassionate and intuitive.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
