From the reviews

I recently visited Thrive and had an exceptional experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the warm and friendly staff, Jen and Ellie, who made me feel right at home. Their professionalism and genuine care set the tone for a truly high-end experience (right here in Redding!!).

I appreciate Thrive so much! I'm an endurance athlete who has been frustrated by injuries to my legs for years, and it has limited my ability to train and compete. Matt's therapy techniques have been the first thing that has worked well for me in a long time, and I'm back out there running again!

★★★★★ — Josh, Feb 2024

I have been seeing Matt regularly for over a year and will faithfully continue! Matt has a beautiful presence and listens to my body with intuition and touch. The Shulman Method Matt uses really seems to help my chronic pain conditions.

★★★★★ — Jenny, Jan 2024

I am so glad I found this place. Matt is knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. He takes the time to explain what he is doing and why. I was dealing with an old knee injury and it feels so much better. I felt heard and cared for. Not to mention it was calming and clean facility.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
