He has created such a warm and inviting space at his Taylor Street location. The upstairs treatment room is my favorite! I definitely recommend!!
I’ve been to several acupuncturist in town and Mark is by far my favorite. He is extremely knowledgeable on Chinese medicine, is a great listener and designs effective treatment plans. Recently he was able to bring relief to a nagging hip issue that I couldn’t resolve myself.
I've been into acupuncture treatments for over 25 years and Mark is my favorite acupuncturist! He knows a lot about Chinese medicine and has a calm and mindful energy. His office is very nice (and smells wonderful). We're lucky to have him in town.
Mark Fortney in Nashville is top notch. It was my first experience with acupuncture and I'm definitely going back. Not only is his space beautiful and thoughtful, he spends time getting to know you so that he can accurately pinpoint what needs the most attention.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
