From the reviews

My husband and I booked a couples massage for our anniversary, and it was WONDERFUL! Both Katie and Emily were fantastic. My husband and I left feeling refreshed and super relaxed. I highly recommend the splurge, as we both felt it was a great way to start our anniversary weekend.

Adley was amazing! I loved her technique. I was visiting from out of town and was shocked I could find an appointment on short notice only a few days prior. I didn't know what to expect of The Healing Gallery but the location was a quick walk from our hotel so I went for it.

Katy is one of Charleston's best massage therapist and acupuncturist. I always leave the Healing Gallery feeling like a brand new human being. She is a true expert at what she does. The location is beautiful, surrounded by Charleston's historical churches. You can hear the church bells off in the distance.

I enjoyed a fantastic massage experience with Jess. I told her I was experiencing a lot of tension and discomfort in my neck and shoulders. She listened to my specific concerns and came up with a focused area massage to fit my needs. It was a deep tissue massage with the perfect amount of pressure.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
