From the reviews
I booked a 60-minute massage + cupping session at Stretch-abilitation in Oakland with Salah and had a great first experience. The space is calm and welcoming, and Salah took the time to really listen and tailor the session to what my body needed.
Salah was a great massage therapist. Very kind, accommodating and communicative. I went ahead and joined as a member. Nice to support local business!
First time coming for a deep tissue massage in a long time and instantly felt better! Would definitely come back.
Such a gem of a place! Salah was incredible- one of the best messages I’ve gotten! Great, clean space. booked a deep tissue massage that he was able to tailor to where I needed some extra attention. It was the right level of pressure where I needed and relaxing at the same time.
Booking hijama (wet cupping) at Stretch-Abilitation
Stretch-Abilitation comes up as a provider that offers hijama — wet cupping, where the skin is lightly punctured after suction so a small amount of blood is drawn. If you're booking hijama specifically, a few things are worth asking before you go. First, sterility is everything — a reputable practitioner uses a fresh, single-use kit (new blades and cups) for every client and follows clean, gloved technique. It's completely fair to ask how they handle this. Second, many people booking hijama want a same-gender practitioner — ask whether that can be arranged. Third, ask about aftercare and whether they observe particular days if that matters to you.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
