From the reviews

Akari is a first rate bodyworker with a keen sense of the body and how it works. After a bout with Covid which led to sciatica she not only unraveled that but also helped loosen some other tightness in the upper body. She takes a full body perspective while using a mix of modalities which produce excellent results!

★★★★★ — Sandy, Nov 2025

Akari is a very skilled practitoner both in her techniques and ability to understand what your body needs. She uses a large variety of different types of massage and body work that match what your needs are in different combinations specific to you.

★★★★★ — Ann, Jul 2025

My experience with Akari was EXCELLENT all the way through. The facilities brought such calming presence and intention to the work we were there to do. She asked thoroughly about my shoulder problems and helped me realize that they were coming from my hips--crazy!

★★★★★ — Aaron, Jun 2025

I have worked with dozens of massage therapists over the past 30 years. I'm happy to report that Akari is among the best therapeutic masseuses I have ever experienced. In addition to being kind and thoughtful, she zeros in on the root cause of any pain/injury I am experiencing and figures out how to treat it.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
