From the reviews

I sprained BOTH ankles and could hardly walk for months, let alone do anything I enjoy. I've been seeing Andrea for a few months and now I can balance, my pain is gone and I'm strong enough for yoga and running. I've never worked with a physical therapist before who has had such an impact on my abilities.

★★★★★ — Nikki, Jan 2022

Step Ahead offers exceptional physical therapy services in a wonderful seaside setting. The expert treatment that I've received for longstanding neck and shoulder injuries has been therapeutic, educational and empowering. As a result of my time with Barbara Simmons, I'm not currently experiencing pain.

★★★★★ — Elaine, Nov 2024

Going to Step Ahead Physical Therapy is the highlight of my week! I have received such incredible care. Andy has gone above and beyond to make sure that my knee can operate properly.

★★★★★ — Anne, Feb 2022

From the beginning I have been very impressed with Step Ahead Physical Therapy. I never knew it even existed until my young grandson was going there for his therapy.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
