From the reviews

This place is amazing!! Came here with bad elbow pain from weightlifting. I figured I needed surgery, but was told to try PT first. Somehow came across this place and tried it. Let me tell you that Shao knows exactly what he's talking about!!

Shao is the best around. Cool guy. Lovely family and amazing business. Just a good person to be around. The blood cupping and needling is the best treatment for my hamstrings being an athlete. 10 stars!

Wonderful experience. I was looking for help with my jaw and neck pain. Gina was so kind and carefully administered wey cupping and acupuncture. I’m feeling better already and I’m looking forward to future sessions.

★★★★★ — Leone, Feb 2023

I’ve had chronic hip pain for over 3+ years and no matter what I did my hip never improved. I am an avid runner of many years so just wear and tear. Also, recently I had other health problems that came up unexpectedly that required medication that created side effects.

Booking hijama (wet cupping) at Shao Acupuncture & Natural Healing Center

Shao Acupuncture & Natural Healing Center comes up as a provider that offers hijama — wet cupping, where the skin is lightly punctured after suction so a small amount of blood is drawn. If you're booking hijama specifically, a few things are worth asking before you go. First, sterility is everything — a reputable practitioner uses a fresh, single-use kit (new blades and cups) for every client and follows clean, gloved technique. It's completely fair to ask how they handle this. Second, many people booking hijama want a same-gender practitioner — ask whether that can be arranged. Third, ask about aftercare and whether they observe particular days if that matters to you.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
