From the reviews

I recently had the most an amazing massage and still feel like I’m getting the benefits from my one hour with Michael. He is incredibly intuitive and genuinely pays attention to how the body responds to different techniques. He did some deep tissue work as well as cupping.

★★★★★ — Suzanne, Jun 2026

Michael is great!! Therapeutic massage, deep tissue, with stretching and cupping but in such a gentle way. Effective AND relaxing/enjoyable. Highly recommend!

★★★★★ — Lauren, May 2025

Mike is a well trained, compassionate massage therapist specializing in therapeutic massage. He is also an athlete who understands injury and maintenance. I really appreciate this because deep tissue and therapeutic massage have been very helpful as part of a recovery plan when I’ve had shoulder or knee injuries.

★★★★★ — Martha, Aug 2024

I've heard great things about Roots Bodywork, and I know the passion and dedication Mike puts into his work. If you're looking for a massage therapist who genuinely cares about your well-being and wants to help you feel your best, Mike is the person to go to.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
