The pain relief and overall well-being I feel after every session with Aaron can sometimes be too good to be true. He has helped me through intense, immense pain from 2 ankle replacement surgeries that I finally am over.

★★★★★ — Db, Sep 2025

This practice is a one-stop shop for pain relief! Highly recommend Joseph Peters for massage, and Dr. Mary Gagliardi for acupuncture. They’ve helped manage a range of issues like arthritic pain, sciatica, TMJ, neuropathy and general stress. I feel like I’m floating after an office visit.

★★★★★ — Bored., Feb 2026

I have been going to Mind Body Accupuncture to see Dr. Mary since the beginning of 2026. She is so empathetic and actively listens to my concerns. She is collaborative and will make adjustments to ensure treatments are effective. I would highly recommend booking an appointment!

Booking hijama (wet cupping) at Philadelphia Mind-Body Acupuncture.

Philadelphia Mind-Body Acupuncture. comes up as a provider that offers hijama — wet cupping, where the skin is lightly punctured after suction so a small amount of blood is drawn. If you're booking hijama specifically, a few things are worth asking before you go. First, sterility is everything — a reputable practitioner uses a fresh, single-use kit (new blades and cups) for every client and follows clean, gloved technique. It's completely fair to ask how they handle this. Second, many people booking hijama want a same-gender practitioner — a female practitioner is available here. Third, ask about aftercare and whether they observe particular days if that matters to you.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
