From the reviews

I had experienced acupuncture before meeting Susanna, but it wasn’t until seeing her that I started seeing huge shifts in myself - physically and emotionally. Susanna is incredibly knowledgeable, present and full of wisdom.

★★★★★ — Liz, Oct 2019

I have been seeing Susanna on and off since 2020, first through South Philly Community Acupuncture and for the past year or so at her private practice. Susanna’s care has helped me manage a number of painful conditions all over my body.

★★★★★ — Arielle, Nov 2021

In the Fall I started experiencing pains that seemed like they could be alleviated with eastern medicine. Having known Susanna socially for years, I already loved her cheerful and warm demeanor, so I finally scheduled my first appointment.

★★★★★ — Mg, Mar 2020

Dr. Susanna is an amazing alternative medical practitioner. Every treatment I have had with her over the past four years has been 100% on point. She has what I would call intuitive touch and will point out areas of your body that you are having issues with without you saying a word about them.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
