From the reviews

I’ve had an excellent experience with Dr. Shu over the past few years, and I’m truly grateful for the care and support she has provided through different stages of my life. I first went to see her for shoulder and neck pain. What impressed me most was how thorough and thoughtful she was during the initial evaluation.

I have been suffering from sciatica pain for more than 5 years and had tried almost everything — physical therapy, chiropractic treatments, steroid injections, and even consultations where surgery was recommended. A couple of months ago, I decided to try acupuncture, and I am truly grateful I found my acupuncturist.

★★★★★ — Smita, May 2026

I’ve had a really positive experience working with my acupuncturist, Fangrui Shu. In just 3–4 sessions, I noticed meaningful improvements in several areas that had been bothering me for quite some time.

★★★★★ — Kimberly, Apr 2026

I came to New Hope after many years of dealing with chronic nausea, stomach pain, and digestive issues that my other doctors diagnosed as IBS. My tests were all normal and medication was not helping, so I decided to try acupuncture and I'm glad I did!

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
