Why Mettā Therapeutic Massage & Wellness is listed — cupping is a treatment, not a Google category, so we only list a provider when there's real proof they offer it. Here's what we found: “o within the last 10 days, you must wait to float. Try to eat a small meal or snack before your appointment, to avoid floating on an empty stomach. Try to avoid having caffeine within two hours of your float. Thank you. Cupping Therapy…” source →

From the reviews

Mettā is amazing! The owners Tiff and John are very kind and welcoming people. The atmosphere is UNMATCHED in this facility. You won’t find anything else like this in Syracuse or surrounding areas.

I had a wonderful massage today from Rebecca! I own a wellness center myself so naturally I am critical of other therapist/ wellness centers. She did a wonderful job- from the time I walked in the door to the time I checked out. She was friendly, attentive to my areas of concern and very professional.

★★★★★ — Megan, Jan 2020

I am such a big fan of this studio. The design is simple, classy, and super inviting. I really enjoy the staff and their energy and knowledge. It all seems to flow from Tiff and John who pour so much of themselves into making each of my appointments memorable.

★★★★★ — Cliff, Dec 2017

Amazing!!! I saw Dez she is amazing. I’m a hairstylist with insane shoulder and back pain. She got so deep into my knots it feels so good. I get massaged a lot and one of the things I hate is that they usually don’t press hard on my legs and I love that my legs and feet got the same amount of pressure as my back.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
