This was my first time experiencing acupuncture therapy and wow what can I say.... I have experienced a real difference in my overall health. I started my treatment with Mark 7 months ago and within 3 months I felt I was much less stressed, calmer and more centered. I was feeling so much better.

Dr. Mark is the absolute best! I had heard of acupuncture in the past but was not completely sold on its benefits, so I decided to give it a try; to see what all the hype was about. I can say that I am absolutely pleased with the outcome and think I am addicted.

I am so grateful for Metro Acupuncture and Mark. I started coming to see him about a year ago on my IVF journey. Not only did it support me getting pregnant (I’m 33 weeks) but it has also helped with all of my pregnancy related aches and pains. Mark is very professional and knowledgeable.

★★★★★ — Kasey, Feb 2025

I recently completed a series of acupuncture treatments at Metro Acupuncture for my neck tension. During my first session, Mark inquired about the history of my neck pain and tracked my progress at every follow-up treatment.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
