From the reviews

I cannot say enough about Mari - she is hands-down the best acupuncturist in Portland and has been a huge part of my life for many years. Mari keeps my active lifestyle in check — if I feel any tweak while running, her acupuncture sessions get me back on the trail quicker than without treatment.

I’ve been seeing Mari since 2012 and I can’t say enough about how talented she is! My sessions with her are always so relaxing and therapeutic. Whether I’m going in for an acute injury or just wanting to relax and de-stress, her treatments always hit the spot.

Mari is knowledgeable in her field, excellent for support during reproductive struggles, or auto or on-the-job injury I have found over the 6+ years I have been treated by her (Acupuncture). Awesome clinic environment, a great listener, very generous, and truly wants to help her clients. I tell everyone about her.

Changed by life. She has helped or whole family and now we refer our own patients to her. She is one of Portland's hidden gems. You should get in while she is still accepting new patients.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
