I went to Cheryl at Lower Peninsula Massage Therapy with neck and back pain from overuse and scoliosis. She used magnetic cupping on my back along with other massage techniques to loosen and soften my muscles. I feel relaxed and the pain in my back is gone!
Cheryl is the best at what she does. I’ve never had her do Ashi on me, but her cupping is incredible and the way she knows exactly what your body needs is wild. I always feel my absolute best after leaving her place. A few months ago I had a migraine that lasted 3 or 4 days (honestly lost count).
Words can’t describe how Cheryl makes you feel after the massage! I leave feeling like a cup of jello! Her deep tissue massage is absolutely breathtaking, literally breathtaking! She does a fantastic job communicating with her clients and making sure the pressure is okay.
Knowledge and expertise keep me coming back. I started with Cheryl (cupping and stretching) to relieve lower back spasms. I've continued with cupping and massage at least once a month to keep myself healthy. This is just as important as exercise and healthy foods.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
