From the reviews
I had a very uncomfortable injury from working out. Arwa was amazing and was able to reduce the pain from this injury and I believe reduce the time for it to heal. The massage was wonderful and I also experienced cupping for the first time. I will definitely do that again! Thank you Arwa!
Best massage I have had in Kalamazoo in years. My lady retired a few years ago and I have been on the look out for someone who does therapeutic rehabilitative massage well. I have my multiple chronic health problems so massage is healthcare for me not relaxation.
Amees Massage and Spa is truly a hidden gem! From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and completely at ease. The space is peaceful, beautifully kept, and designed to help you relax the moment you step inside.
The best massages I have ever had! Whether I am seeing Arwa for a relaxing massage or for an intense, muscle releasing massage. If you are having muscle problems, Arwa strives to get to the root of the problem going out of her way, often, to bring you relief.
Booking hijama (wet cupping) at Amees Massage & Spa
Amees Massage & Spa comes up as a provider that offers hijama — wet cupping, where the skin is lightly punctured after suction so a small amount of blood is drawn. If you're booking hijama specifically, a few things are worth asking before you go. First, sterility is everything — a reputable practitioner uses a fresh, single-use kit (new blades and cups) for every client and follows clean, gloved technique. It's completely fair to ask how they handle this. Second, many people booking hijama want a same-gender practitioner — a female practitioner is available here. Third, ask about aftercare and whether they observe particular days if that matters to you.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
