Went to Dr. Lok for relief of osteoarthritis pain. Before I began acupuncture treatments I could not stand or walk for longer than a half-hour due to hip pain. My forefoot pain wakened me at night. I also couldn't sit for very long due to pain in my spine.
I don't understand the negative reviews because I had an amazing experience every visit. I was recommended this place by one of my family members and I was not disappointed. I went to Dr Peter Lok with my hurting hip, most likely sciatica, and after a few visits the pain went from 9 to 2 or nothing!
I use to think that acupuncturists were overrated even though I've never been to one, but Dr. Lok has been the only physician that has been able to get rid of my left arm and upper back intense pain. Pain meds, massages, tennis balls and pain block creams did not help.
A decade after back surgery, I began to feel the excruciating pain in my back, legs, and hips again. Instead of punishing myself with medication, unnecessary and numerous appointments with 3 to 4 different specialists, and eventually another surgery, I chose acupuncture treatments.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
