From the reviews

Joey is AMAZING! I was in town temporarily for a clinical rotation and looked high and low for a good massage therapist. Joey isn't just good, but GREAT! We chatted the whole time, he hit all of the problem spots, and as someone with hypermobility, knew exactly what to avoid.

BEST OF MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL. Joey is an extremely gifted bodywork therapist - one of the very best I have ever seen. He is intuitive and intentional with his work, always wanting to honor whatever experience you are looking to have, from relaxing to healing.

★★★★★ — Kelsey, Oct 2024

I cannot speak highly enough of Joey and his massage work at JDM Bodywork. As someone who has had about 50 massages in my lifetime, I can confidently say that Joey's expertise surpasses any other. From the moment you enter his space, Joey greets you with warmth and makes you feel at ease.

★★★★★ — Mackenzie, Feb 2024

Joey Miller has been my go-to massage therapist for years. He is extraordinarily talented, deeply kind, intuitive, and insightful. I have some unique challenges with my body, and he always intentionally tailors our session to what’s going on with me on a given day.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
