From the reviews
I love Katia, her positive energy, and the positive energy and wonderful treatments I receive here. Katia takes the time to do a thorough assessment upon first visit to understand what’s bothering you on a physical and emotional level and develops a plan to help with your healing.
Katia is truly a healer. The first time I visited her, I was suffering from chronic pain in my neck and back that lasted for over 3 months. It was excruciating. I had taken prescription pain medicine at one point to deal with the pain, but my body wasn’t healing.
My weekly acupuncture sessions with Katia have been highlights of 2022 for me. I found her as I was hoping to address some gastrointestinal concerns and discomfort, and she has been attentive and thorough in working with me to address those concerns and more.
I highly recommend Katia and her acupuncture services. From the moment you meet her, you can feel the peaceful energy that sets the tone for a healing experience. Her calming presence and professional expertise have helped me address a number of health concerns over the past 6 months.
Booking hijama (wet cupping) at Jade River Healing Arts
Jade River Healing Arts comes up as a provider that offers hijama — wet cupping, where the skin is lightly punctured after suction so a small amount of blood is drawn. If you're booking hijama specifically, a few things are worth asking before you go. First, sterility is everything — a reputable practitioner uses a fresh, single-use kit (new blades and cups) for every client and follows clean, gloved technique. It's completely fair to ask how they handle this. Second, many people booking hijama want a same-gender practitioner — a female practitioner is available here. Third, ask about aftercare and whether they observe particular days if that matters to you.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
