From the reviews

I went to Melanie last minute because of some severe shoulder pain and tightness. I did 60 minutes of cupping and it was amazing! Melanie took a lot of time to understand the issue, when I felt pain, and where exactly I felt the pain so that she could get to the root of it.

Melanie is just AWESOME! Best ashiatsu massage in Austin, no doubt. It is incredible what she can do with her feet. She is very professional and knowledgeable I enjoyed a lot learning about my body and the whys of my back-pain. I also loved the 20 minutes of cupping she used to treat my back pain and 2 days later...

★★★★★ — Mireia, Dec 2020

My husband has chronic pain and started seeing Melanie first. He sent me as a part of a birthday gift. Not only was Melanie professional and thorough with her consultation but after the treatment, she took time to show me specific stretches for the areas which seemed extra tight.

★★★★★ — Nisa, Aug 2019

Heeling Hands (Melanie) is top notch. I've seen her twice now. Once for pain and once for leisure. The targeted custom massage for my pain points was exactly what I needed for some sports recover, and the leisure visit was simply for a relaxing massage post- camping trip.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
