From the reviews
I can’t recommend Shaun enough. I came in with pretty severe pain and lack of mobility in my neck, shoulder, and upper back areas, and within just two sessions of acupuncture, some cupping and body work, I’ve already experienced massive improvement! Shaun made me feel comfortable right away.
I’ve been coming to Golden Mean acupuncture for almost a year now (weekly visits) to help with stress and sleep management—plus the occasional rolled ankle or stiff neck.
Shaun at Golden Mean in Echo Park has been instrumental in my healing journey. I’ve been going there for over 2 years to treat a number of different ailments and Shaun has always taken the time to listen to my concerns and develop a game plan to get me back on track.
I went in after a rough COVID recovery and was dealing with lingering symptoms that I didn’t realize acupuncture could actually help with. I was honestly surprised by how effective the treatments were. I started feeling noticeably better pretty quickly.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
