From the reviews

Kara is awesome! She knows how to work with athletes and provides modifications and clear return to sport plans! She really treats the whole body as it relates to the injury, gives book and podcast recommendations, and always checks in post care to see how I am doing and if I need any progressions to do on my own.

★★★★★ — Kenzie, Jun 2024

I came to Kara after several years of back issues. She understood the importance of being able to continue to do the outdoor activities I love, and the exercises and advice she has taught me have allowed me to continue skiing, running, and biking without pain.

★★★★★ — Jillian, May 2025

As an endurance runner, I've unfortunately had a variety injuries to deal with over the years and have worked with numerous PTs, from those at big "PT mills" that focus on volume of patients to PTs at smaller practices focusing on individual treatment (which I strongly prefer).

★★★★★ — Jason, Mar 2024

I really truly appreciate professionals who tell you what they do and do not specialize in. I called about a pulley injury I sustained while climbing, and got an upfront recommendation to try other practices as this is a highly specific injury.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
