From the reviews
I had the pleasure of working with Alex, a private yoga teacher at Cajun Zen, and I couldn't be more impressed with the experience. As someone who's not fond of traditional yoga studios, I found Cajun Zen's serene and clean space to be exactly what I needed.
Alex is a very skilled body work and traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. The way he has integrated body work with the traditions of Chinese wisdom is highly effective and eye opening.
I’ve been dealing with knee pain and swelling for a while, and my experience with Alex has been amazing. His technique really helped reduce the swelling and pain in my knee. After just a few sessions, I noticed a significant improvement. Alex is very knowledgeable, skilled, and takes a personalized approach to healing.
I found Alex at Cajun Zen when I found out I was pregnant with my second child. His calm and understanding personality met with his dedication to his craft and wealth of knowledge is exactly the right combination for natural healing.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
