I have been going to April at Bronxville Acupuncture for about 6 months and have felt substantial improvement in my back. Before starting acupuncture, I often developed knots in my back and felt tightness from sitting all day. Now that I have been regularly receiving treatment, I rarely have back pain or tightness.
I found April through my massage therapist Linda 8 years ago when I was diagnosed with cancer and needed relief from chronic pain I was experiencing due to side effects from medicine, chemotherapy, and surgeries.
April's offices are a peaceful escape from the busy world. Her generous spirit and open heart is evident in her space and in her healing work: she wants clients to feel safe and cared for.
I can’t recommend April enough. April has helped me manage multiple autoimmune diseases that affect all aspects of my physical health which medication alone does not fix. She also supported me throughout my pregnancy. Beyond that, the space is beautiful, clean and conveniently located.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
