From the reviews
When I initially sought out Maryam, I was hoping to improve my general well-being through acupuncture, but I quickly realized that Maryam's knowledge and skills extend far beyond just one modality.
In my opinion Maryam of Heart Body Mind Acupuncture is just about the best acupuncturist in the area. In January I was experiencing lower back and hip pain and my former acupuncturist had become unavailable. An internet search took me to the very professional website of Heart Body Mind Acupuncture.
highly recommend Dr. Maryam Wootan/Beacon Hills Acupuncture. she asks all of the right questions to help identify root cause and tailors treatment to improve acute symptoms and overall wellbeing through highly skilled massage, acupuncture, cupping, etc.
I began my first acupuncture treatment with Maryam in October 2024 to assist me with severe insomnia. She accommodated me immediately and fitted me into her busy schedule as well as any advancing or rescheduling appointments if needed. The applied massaging techniques before and after treatment are always beneficial.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
