From the reviews
I went to see Heather after I was referred to her by a close family member. I didn't know what to expect, being that I had never seen an acupuncturist before. I needed help with pain management. I have chronic pain (everywhere) after having had contracted West Nile Meningitis in June 2004.
Heather is fantastic. Her knowledge of holistic approaches to treat various issues is so expansive, and she is constantly working to grow that knowledge. I initially came to see her for acupuncture and cupping for some lower back pain, but since she recently completed some functional and integrative medicine courses,…
Heather was fantastic! Clearly an expert in her field we have developed a treatment plan that will get be back where I need to be quickly. I’ve been trying things for 12 months and when one of my friends suggested “H” I said why not, next step is a surgeon so nothing to loose.
I was new to acupuncture when I began seeing Heather. Part of me, I will admit, was also a little skeptical. But the effects are real - especially when she does the "ear reset" which instantly relaxes my nervous system in a natural and unanticipated way that I now have come to look forward to.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
