From the reviews

I had a great experience at Bay State Physical Therapy Reading after suffering a hamstring injury. I was eager to get back to playing hockey, and the team here was instrumental in my recovery. From my first visit, I found the facility to be clean and welcoming.

★★★★★ — Phillip, Apr 2025

I worked with Manny for months to regain strength in my shoulder after a fall and probable torn rotator cuff. He was excellent; in fact, I had sessions with several different therapists over my time at Bay State, and the entire team was outstanding.

★★★★★ — Sarah, May 2025

Staff at the Reading MA branch are exceptional. My primary therapist Candice patiently helped me to advance from my initial status of using a walker for mobility to my current one of non assisted mobility. She treated me for left leg tibia/fibula with 2 broken bones.

★★★★★ — Patricia, Aug 2025

The teamwork in this physical therapy practice is impressive, from the scheduling of appointments, to the case management. I recently worked with Manny to relieve a knee issue I was having, and he is so friendly and competent. But I also had appointments with Candace and Emily, and they were also excellent.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
