From the reviews

I have Fibromyalgia, and am therefore continually trying to manage pain issues, and frequent injuries. Since I'm in PT a few times annually, I've come to recognize a good therapist from a great therapist, and Purwa Bhatt from Back to Function is a Great therapist.

We are active seniors and have the need to see a good effective PT for persistent aches and pains, at times mysterious ones, that we cannot shake off. Purwa was recommended by our family doctor, and also a great fit because she is practicing manual physical therapy as well as being very seasoned and having her own…

After almost four years of battling chronic pain, I’ve seen a variety of physical therapists. My journey has been long and challenging, but meeting my fifth physical therapist, Purwa, felt like a significant turning point in my recovery process. She is highly skilled and very caring.

I have needed physical therapy services several times over the past several years. The last couple times, I saw Dr. Bhatt at her former practice. She was always prompt, a good listener, and took the time to explain what was going on, what the treatment plan was, and how it would benefit me.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
