A gift!!! It turned into an INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! The venue is welcoming, calming as you enter. The staff very respectful and friendly. My masseuse was Yvette, she asked what I wanted from my time, she listened intently and delivered with quiet strength and masterful technique!
I got a 90 minute deep tissue massage with cupping and hot stones! So relaxing and the pressure was perfect! I had Kelly and I highly recommend! I’d never had cupping before and she walked me through everything and it was an awesome experience! Definitely will be going back!
I visited awaken for the first time after doing extensive research about spas in Richmond, and decided I absolutely had to see what the hype was about. I booked a 60 minute massage and I was very curious about Microchanneling after learning more about it from awaken’s website.
Booked a couple's massage with my partner. I booked online which was very simple. Prior to booking I called multiple times with questions and the staff were very helpful and informative (also no call bot picks up it was a real person!). Day of, we had Yvette and Madi, both were phenomenal.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
