From the reviews

I’ve had 4 sessions with Dr. Huang, and it feels like I’ve found a gem. I was feeling discouraged with the western medical system for my issues and wanted to try TMC approach. My primary issue had been my knee swelling, as well as indigestion, sleep, etc.

I brought my father inlaw to this acupuncture clinic after he suffered a stroke more than six months ago, which left the right side of his body impaired. Since then, he had been struggling not only physically but also emotionally.

Doctor Emily Huang is my colleague. She has well medical knowledge and clinical training, especially in scalp acupuncture treatment. She is good at various acute and chronic pain and nerves damaged(eg: post stroke ). I have seen her treat a patient with Parkinson's disease and multiple geriatric diseases.

★★★★★ — Xiaoqin, Mar 2025

I have been knowing Dr. Huang for a few years and I have to say that she is one of the best Chinese medicine doctors in Bay Area. Her ways to communicate with patients and methods to treat her patients are stunning and professional. Her knowledge in Chinese medicine and acupuncture is broad and profound.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
