As a person who deals with conditions where medicine is the only treatment and little help I decided to try acupuncture. I have tried medical offices that provide acupuncture but non has measured to the results. VUIM clinic has helped me live a normal life, the one i used to have before these conditions.
I’ve been going here since January ‘26. I’ve had long standing back pain, mostly from a car accident, and T. Kouo, who is a really fine instructor there, has been doing amazing work. I am experiencing the progress of his expertise; reduced pain, and more strength in my back. He’s very gifted and talented.
I visited the NJ location on May 31st from a Groupon offer. The front desk receptionist was pleasant. The two interns assigned to me - Shaun and Jennifer were professional, friendly, considerate and helpful. Dr. Choo was professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable.

What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
