From the reviews

Louise Lacoste at Total Mind and Body changed my life, and I don't say that lightly. She is knowledgeable, kind, non-judgmental, an excellent listener, and takes the time to treat patients as whole human beings. I can personally attest to her strengths in treating auto-immune disease and chronic pain.

Louise is the best acupuncturist . She clearly listens and understands about our pain in the body . She is very friendly and knowledgeable. She has treated my sciatic pain so well, and I had a great relief from the pain . I love her cupping treatment and it is always so relaxing .

Best acupuncture and whole person care. I always leave feeling better. I get the cupping and ear seeds too. This is how I take care of myself!

★★★★★ — Hardy, Oct 2019

When my HVAC Contractor told me he was going to acupuncture and that I needed to try it, I was skeptical at first but decided to try it. I was privileged to meet Louise; she seemed genuinely interested in why I was seeking acupuncture and what I hoped to gain.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
