I have been going to Thrive for several weeks and I have nothing but great things to say. From the minute I walked in to meeting the Drs. who have taken care of me, I have had nothing but positive experiences! Dr Tom is my physical therapist who is always positive and pushes me to improve.
I have been coming to Thrive for a little over a year now. I had physical therapy services for 8-9 months. I received occupational therapy for a few months. I have been receiving chiropractic services since I began and I also have been receiving acupuncture.
After suffering a concussion, I was struggling to feel better and I was recommended to Thrive in Belmar for acupuncture. From the minute I called Thrive and spoke to Gianna, I immediately knew that Thrive was different.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
