I think 13 Moons Acupuncture is the bees knees! From the moment I walked in their door I felt calm, comfortable, and supported in my healing. The building (house) itself is a wonderful space to be in. It feels like a cozy home but in the most professional of ways. Lori is my practitioner and she is incredible.
Not all acupuncture is created equal. In the United States chiropractors can practice acupuncture with minimal training. This has given the field a poor presence.
I have been a patient of Acupuncture/Traditional Chinese Medicine for about 15 years. It can be difficult finding the right person. Moving to Omaha, I was again faced with the challenge of finding a good quality practitioner. How fortunate I feel to have met Lori Holland at 13 Moons.
I can't say enough great things about this place! My husband and I had been trying for pregnancy for long enough to have a local fertility specialist recommend beginning IUI and possibly IVF cycles.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
