From the reviews

I would highly recommend Talia and The East Asian Medicine Center. She has extensive education and knowledge in East Asian medicine. I wanted to stop taking prescription drugs for my enlarged prostate and she was successful in eliminating my need for pharmaceuticals with her Chinese herb formulas.

Working with Talia has been incredible. Her presence and knowledge is so comforting, and the space is beautiful. I immediately feel relaxed when I enter the office. I went to her looking for support with my menstrual cycle and balancing hormones, which greatly effect my mood.

Raphael is awesome! I wasn't able to move my neck after pulling it the day before. He made time for me that morning and gave me tui na massage, accupressure, accupuncture and cupping in the same session. He is really proficient in several modalities and I felt much better. An amazing resource for our community!

★★★★★ — Everett, Aug 2019

I'll keep it simple -- Talia and Raphi are exceptionally caring, passionate, and generous healers! I have worked with various acupuncturists and herbal medicine doctors over the past four years in New York City, and am so grateful to have found Talia and Raphi in upstate New York.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
