From the reviews
To say I'm a little picky about my massage therapists is a bit of an understatement. When I moved to Brooklyn, I was so relieved when I found Cara Heerdt and I can't imagine going to anyone else on a regular basis. Cara is thoughtful and in-tune with whatever is going on with my body.
Cara is such a gift to all who she massages; I cannot recommend her more highly. I came to Cara when I was in need of lymphatic drainage due to Lymes, bartonella, and recent surgery.
Super happy I looked around a bit and picked Cara and Sun Glass Healing Therapy. As with most professions, it often depends on who you get - are they committed? Are they truly expert at what they do?
Cara at Sunglass Healing has changed my life for the better. Her knowledge and expertise is second to none. Since beginning therapy at Sunglass healing I am happy to say that pain and inflammation no longer control my life.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
