Having been married for 25+ years, I wanted to experience this relaxing time with my loved one by my side, so I scheduled our very first ever couples massage. While on vacation in Oak Harbor, WA, I was in need of a massage after traveling by air and car.
I have visited Soulful several times over the past few months and have thoroughly enjoyed each massage session with Julie. She is warm, personable, and consistently provides an excellent experience. On my most recent visit, I decided to enhance my session by booking a singing bowls experience with Kelli.
Julie and her associates are very warm and lovely people. Walking into their establishment is soothing to the senses immediately as you enter. Soft lights, a beautiful aroma, and gorgeous calming decor greet you along with the nicest smiles that make you feel right at home instantly!
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
