Why Resilience Acupuncture is listed — cupping is a treatment, not a Google category, so we only list a provider when there's real proof they offer it. Here's what we found: “commendations are always included with acupuncture sessions you can also schedule herbal consults independent of acupuncture sessions. This is a good option if you would like to work with me but are afraid of needles. Cupping Sessions…” source →

From the reviews

I have received cupping services and massage from Melissa. Though I now live some distance from her, I would visit regularly if I was local. Her soothing and calming energy were very welcome and I was able to put other concerns to the side while I was in her care.

Melissa is a gifted and compassionate practitioner. I see her regularly and am so grateful to be in her care. I’ve experienced a number of acupuncturists in my life and she is excellent. Melissa is highly skilled with needles, cupping, herbs, massage, and more. She listens deeply and has such a loving presence.

★★★★★ — Greta, Jan 2020

I cannot recommend Mel and Resilience Acupuncture & Wellness enough. I first went to Mel a few months ago with a slew of issues - allergies, upper abdominal discomfort, digestive problems - after just one treatment my allergies disappeared! The stomach problems have been improving ever since.

★★★★★ — Justina, Jan 2020

I would give 10 stars if I could. I've had a number of acupuncture experiences but seeing Melissa Shelton, LAc has by far been the best! She uses a very gentle and highly focused technique to get very holistic changes.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
