From the reviews

Dr. Elizabeth is the best acupuncturist in the Bay Area. She’s kind, knowledgeable, and truly cares about her patients. From the first visit, I felt completely comfortable and supported. She really takes the time to listen and understand what’s going on, and every treatment feels personalized and thoughtful.

Dr. Howe is truly a gift. She is deeply knowledgeable in Chinese medicine and brings both wisdom and compassion into her practice. My mother has a rare eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), which has caused severe vision loss and blindness. After just a month of acupuncture treatment with Dr.

★★★★★ — Kalawati, Oct 2025

Dr. Howe helped me so much with acupuncture and micro-needling for retina issues I am having. I was diagnosed with myopic CNV and lacquer cracks in my retina and was having extremely distorted vision in one eye when I started with her.

I have been seeing Elizabeth for a couple of months now and am so grateful I found her. She is very knowledgeable and extremely skilled, especially when it comes to orthopedics. She is kind, caring, and attentive to my needs and concerns.

What to expect from your first cupping session

New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.

Cupping isn't for everyone — if you're on blood thinners, pregnant, or have a skin condition or bleeding disorder, check with your doctor first, and always tell your practitioner about health concerns before a session. This page is directory information, not medical advice.
