Why PHYT For Function Fairview Park is listed — cupping is a treatment, not a Google category, so we only list a provider when there's real proof they offer it. Here's what we found: “a single area. If you’re unsure which option is best, just ask your PT or OT. We’re happy to guide you! Will I be sore after treatment? Possibly—but it’s usually mild. From the reviews
The care provided by Dr. Kelli and the team at Phyt for Function Fairview Park is top notch. I had my first appointment with Dr. Kelli in February for a couple of injuries that I was pretty worried about.
I had my very first appointment with Cara today and it was AMAZING! .. I had dry needling done and cupping on my shoulders, by the end of the appointment I felt so much more relaxed in the shoulders.
From the moment I met Cara, I knew I was in good hands. Rushing into her office from another appointment, she made me feel welcome at first glance while ensuring we covered anatomy, pain mitigation techniques, range of motion testing, and more.
Cara is a magician….actually…that isn’t fair to her. It would imply that she uses trickery. In reality she uses an astonishingly impressive knowledge of anatomy and the interactions between nerves, muscles, tendons, and ligament to diagnose your problem.
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
