Christy is unbelievably talented. I have been getting thai yoga massages from her for a couple of years now, and I really can't imagine a better therapy than that. It's deep and she knows what she is doing. I've been really happy with all of the services here, but she is exceptionally talented.
Finishing up the 1st half of class this month and extremely pleased with the course thus far. Although the school isn't the traditional classroom setting there is an incredible amount of knowledge covered in every class.
The best massage school in Alaska! Students are very well trained in many different modalities of massage and Oriental healing arts. I was so impressed with the school, I chose to work there when I became a professional. Highly recommend OHAC for educational classes or a great massage!
What to expect from your first cupping session
New to cupping? Here's the short version. What happens: the practitioner places cups on the skin — most often the back, shoulders, or legs — and creates suction (with a pump, or briefly with a flame for fire cupping). Cups either stay put for a few minutes (dry cupping) or are glided over oiled skin (massage cupping). A session is usually 15–45 minutes, often added to a massage or acupuncture visit. The marks: cupping leaves round, bruise-like circles that are normal and usually fade in a few days to a couple of weeks — they're discoloration from the suction, not an injury, and shouldn't really hurt. What to wear: comfortable clothing that gives access to the area being treated. Afterward: drink water, keep the area warm, and skip intense sun or a hot sauna right after.
